Doctoral programme
A new programme Aalto Doctoral Programme in Arts, Design and Architecture will start on 1 August 2012. The Department of Architecture will be part of that programme, and the degree taken in architecture is Doctor of Science (Architecture).

Aalto University has six doctoral programmes. One of them is the Doctoral Programme in Arts, Design and Architecture, which has more than 200 doctoral candidates working in the five departments. Annually, 8 to 10 Doctors of Arts, Design and Architecture graduate from the School of Arts, Designand Architecture, and by September 2012, the School had granted 100 doctorates in all.
The Doctor of Arts, Design and Architecture degree has the special feature that the dissertation can also include an art production, a series of art productions meaningfully connected to each other, or a product development project.
The deadlines for applications for doctoral studies are 15 March and 15 September annually.
