Organization and units

Dean

The Dean of Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture leads the School within the framework of the University Board and the Aalto University Bylaws. The Dean is assisted by the Vice Dean.

The Dean is Professor Helena Hyvönen and the Vice Deans are Professor Pekka Korvenmaa and Head of Research Ossi Naukkarinen.

The School has an Academic Affairs Committee for Art and Design to handle academic matters, and the Dean chairs this committee. The School also has a Postgraduate Board.

Departments and other units

Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture has five departments for research, teaching and artistic activities: 

• Department of Film, TV and Scenography
• Department of Media
• Department of Design
• Department of Architecture
• Department of Art

Each department is run by the Head of the Department.

The other units are:

• Media Centre Lume (separate department)
• Western Finland Design Centre Muova (with University of Vaasa)
