Campuses and facilities
The Arabia campus
The main building of the School of Arts, Design and Architecture is located in Arabianranta, the birthplace of Helsinki.
The area is a rapidly developing “centre of creativity” that has focused particularly on art, design and technology. Developers are required to invest 1–2% of construction costs in art. The wireless network is available to residents and companies and educational institutes operating in the area.
In addition to the School of Arts, Design and Architecture the Arabianranta campus is home to Arcada and Metropolia Universities of Applied Sciences, Prakticum Vocational College, Heltech – Helsinki City College of Technology and Helsinki Pop & Jazz Conservatory, which caters to music enthusiasts and professionals.
The Department of Architecture is based in Otaniemi in Espoo, 10 km from the center of Helsinki, on a campus designed by Alvar Aalto. Otaniemi has the highest concentration of high technology in the Nordic countries. A unique combination of education, study and business is densely packed into this small area.
The Pori campus is part of the University Consortium of Pori, which is a network-based multidisciplinary science and art community comprising 4,300 students, 200 experts and 4 universities.
The four universities in the consortium are Aalto University, Tampere University of Technology, University of Tampere and University of Turku.
